– A BEACON, A GUIDE –
The Beacon’s classic and functional design was inspired by two durable and lasting pieces that came before it. Its body shape and protective casing is influenced by the design of traditional fisherman’s lantern, often called the onion lamp. These lanterns served as fishermen’s primary source of light, and aided the crew in staying the course through even the most tumultuous of elements. Offering another source of inspiration for its body shape and directly influencing the inclusion of the carabineer top is the traditional coal miners’ lamp. Anchored throughout mining tunnels, these lanterns served as miners’ guardians as they worked through dangerous environments. A nod to both designs, enhanced by Barebones’ signature beauty and durability principles, has shed a new beam on outdoor and exploration lighting.
Inspired by vintage orchard design, the Gathering Bag offers versatility in use, wearing, emptying and care. It’s multiway straps allow for comfortable chest or back carrying, while it’s drop-out bottom makes quick work of emptying the harvest. Constructed of weather- and water-resistant waxed canvas and complete with a removable liner, the Gathering Bag is the essential foraging and harvesting partner.
Designed with intention, the Barebones Hatchet provides proper weight and balance to maximize your swing alongside strength enhancements such as a full steel tang and overstrike guard to maintain the integrity of the hickory handle. A sheath made of waxed canvas and leather protects the blade from the elements when not in use. Whether you use it to split kindling, clear a path, or hammer stakes with the poll end, the Hatchet helps you make a greater impact.
Clear brush, strip bark, plank wood, make kindling–all with one thoughtfully-crafted tool. Inspired by a traditional Japanese implement and constructed with heritage-quality materials, our Japanese Nata Tool unites versatile function and refined durability. The stainless steel blade and a solid steel core that extends through the length of the hardwood handle lend stability and greater swinging weight yet it still packs thin and light, making it an essential addition to any collection.
Splitting wood in the fresh mountain air has never been so satisfying. Swing the weighted head with ease as its wide angle, 1055 high carbon steel split blade keeps its edge time after time. The 1/3” solid steel core through the wood handle secures the head with a tightening hex bolt and connects it to the steel pommel end to help you maneuver easily around rooting and trenching.
Whether you’re breaking up weeds that won’t budge or digging trenches for irrigation, this stainless steel 3-position head stays sharp and accurate through hard and soft soil. Designed with an easy twist lock to collapse the head for more compact storage, this shovel can suit any yard and fit in any shed.
– BORN FROM NECESSITY –
Our shovel design is inspired by a military entrenching tool, made popular by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s. The Corps was set up to provide jobs for young men during the Great Depression. In its 9-year span, over 3 million people were employed to help with forest management, flood control, and various conservation and natural construction projects. This lightweight, collapsible shovel was easy to carry from site to site and was widely used by the CCC to build many of the national parks, campgrounds, and reservoirs that we enjoy today.
The Trailblazer is the ultimate in outdoor illumination. Its adjustable head, 4000K focus beam and USB port for charging other electronic devices make this flashlight a must-have for any time spent outdoors after sundown.
